Oath taking 2012

I only decided last second to attend oath taking. It was a tough decision, (HAHA!) I have to text my boss again that I need to absent for tomorrow’s one of the most important event in nursing – OATH TAKING. Although most of my friends had decided not to come and since my Dad kept on asking me if I will attend I have to grab the once in a lifetime oath taking. Gladly, I was able to contact my long time friend in nursing – Ate Weng to invite her and thank God she said yes. We both have same thoughts too.

I talk too much. (HAHA!) Anyway, the oath taking was held on September 26,2012 at St. Dominic College of Asia, Bacoor, Cavite. Imagine the place! And I am from Binan! I was actually thinking to commute with my GALA uniform. But I realized I don’t know the place and baka pagdating ko dun huggard na ako at uniform ko maging dirty white na. (HASSLE!)

Thanks Tita Shirley for accompanying me with this event.

The program began with mass then after that program proper proceeds. Honorable Yolanda C. Arugay, one of the board of nursing, shared her insights and extends her congratulate to all the new registered nurses. She is such an inspiring woman who has all the -guts to share her knowledge and wisdom to everybody. She also has the “tender-loving-care” message that made me listen to her attentively. Since the microphone or speaker was not loud I only got some striking points she shared “Struggling towards nursing excellence” – this phrase has given me few thoughts of “Oo nga noh..?! Struggle in nursing…”. But I learned that from all the struggle – people personalities, faculty staffs, lectures, examinations and duty – it helped to know that I can survive from all those and by the grace of God – I am a survivor of BSN!

I would also like to share the part where Hon. Arugay permitted us (New RN’s) to give round of applause to our parents. Sadly, my parents weren’t there but I stood up forced myself not to cry (although I knew there was a moist right through my eyelids) and gave them round of applause. I saw parents waving their hands looking at their child, I saw a mom proudly stood for her daughter and waved her hand with no shame, I saw parents wearing those big smile extended their joy for their child. I believe that my parents are very proud of me too, although, they can’t come but its okay, I still feel perfectly fine. But I would also like to take this chance to praise and honor my beloved parents who never stopped pursuing me even to the most down moments even my last resort is “to quit” being a nursing student. I believe they take their time just to pray for my exams and graduation, most especially the board exam. I am not a quitter that is why I never stopped desiring to finish the course.

Moreover, God has plans too. God is just so great that He made me feel that I have decided what is right even it means of deduction of my salary (HAHA!). I really enjoyed that day and I thank God for the wisdom that He has given me. Here are some pictures of my oath taking, enjoy!

with Dean San Juan, so thankful for her powerful prayer.
